Wilko Blox Advent Calendar Review

Advent Calendars are so exciting these days! 

When I was a kid all you got was a cute Christmas Illustration or maybe a chocolate if you were lucky.

Now there are Advent Calendars for everyone in the family but I still think that kids advent calendars are the best. 

Wilko sent me their Fab Blox Advent Calendar to review so I decided to enlist the help of my gorgeous nephew George aged 8 and his friend Ollie who are both big fans of Lego and experts at construction to put it together and tell me what they thought. 

The first thing that George commented on when opening up the calendar is that he really loved the scene on the box as he felt this would be good to play with or to use as a decoration.
As with a traditional Advent Calendar the doors are spread randomly numbered and behind each door was a blox figure to build.

George sometimes found the instructions a bit tricky on his own and needed some adult help but was soon building some fun Christmasy themed figures with the help of his friend Ollie.

The products themselves are very good quality and I think genuinely do rival the Lego competitor at half the price. George and Ollie did find some of the smaller pieces tricky to attach but in all, they had great fun putting this advent together. 
Once together the figures are robust so the kids were able to play without any pieces coming detached.

Georges favourite piece was in door number 24 which of course was the big man Santa! 

Georges final thoughts on the Wilko Advent Calendar is that he really liked the design and loved the scene, some of the smaller parts were difficult to assemble without help and the instructions were sometimes tricky. He feels that 5+ as an age range may be a little too young and he thinks it should be 7+. He loved spending time putting the figures together with his friend and said he would definitely love to try some other Blox sets. 
Georges mum said she was a bit sceptical about Blox as an alternative to Lego but has been pleasantly surprised by the quality and the price and would definitely purchase this advent calendar in the future.
